The M1 Generation of maXTouch® touchscreen controllers targets automotive and industrial applications and offers the latest innovations to help you design reliable, safe, visually stunning and user-friendly interfaces.
The M1 Generation of maXTouch touchscreen controllers enables sensor channel reconfiguration via soft parameters. The driving and receiving channels can be reconfigured to match the exact screen format, supporting screen sizes up to 20” in the 16:9 aspect ratio and 34” in the 7:1 aspect ratio. These parameter changes do not require any firmware modifications.
In addition to the self and standard mutual capacitance acquisition methods, M1 generation devices support the Smart Mutual acquisition scheme, which is our proprietary implementation of a CDMA technique applied to capacitive touch sensors. It is designed to address the challenges posed by new display technologies, such as flexible on-cell OLED or micro-LED displays where display noise significantly interferes with the touch sensor. The Smart Mutual mode enhances the touch SNR by +15 dB compared to standard mutual implementations without increasing the Tx drive voltage.
The M1 family offers a variety of functional safety features to constantly check the integrity of the following functions at power-up and during run time:
We offer a Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) and a functional safety manual to ease the design, development and certification of your ISO 26262 Automotive Safety Integrity up to Level B applications.
The ATMXT3072M1E and ATMXT2496M1E controllers have been developed according to our ISO 26262 Functional Safety Management System, which is certified by TÜV Rheinland.
These maXTouch touchscreen controllers support Over-the-Air (OTA) upgrades to their embedded firmware. To counter cyberattacks to upload malicious firmware, they also feature a firmware authentication procedure based on SHA-512 hash algorithm that enables the host to verify that the device’s firmware is genuine.
When a pin code or password is entered via the display, the touch coordinates become sensitive data that must be protected. The M1 family of devices can encrypt touch data, which delivers a high level of protection without the need for costly countermeasures on the physical communication link to the main application processor.
The M1 Generation of touchscreen controllers features dedicated functions to achieve ultra-low-latency haptic by transferring the decision to generate the haptic waveforms from the main application processor to the touchscreen controller.
To limit eyes-off-road time and promote safer drive, many automakers are reconsidering using separate physical controls for direct functions like adjusting the audio volume, temperature or fan speed. Our Knob-on-Display (KoD) technology allows you to add intuitive physical knobs on the touchscreen, which improves safety while preserving the visual appeal of modern vehicle displays. The M1E variants of the M1 Generation family support up to four knob instances that can be positioned anywhere on the touch display.
