Functional Safety for ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and IEC 60730 Applications

Robustness, reliability and safety are becoming increasingly important in end products, especially in cars. In the automotive market, these requirements are formalized and governed by the ISO 26262 standard. Our Functional Safety Touch Library will help you quickly and easily develop touch designs targeting Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL B) compliance. If you are working on a design that targets IEC 61508 for industrial functional safety or IEC 60730 for class B safety in appliances, please contact your local Microchip sales office for assistance.

Our Functional Safety Ecosystem

When safety is critical to the success of your design, you can count on our proven experience to help you meet the functional safety requirements of your touch projects while minimizing cost and development time.

The Functional Safety Touch Library is one component of our functional safety support resources. We also offer:

  • Functional safety-compliant and functional safety-ready microcontrollers (MCUs)
  • Functional safety product documentation including FMEDA reports and safety manuals
  • Functional safety diagnostic code for MCUs
  • Functional safety-certified compiler

Functional Safety Touch Library

Our Automotive and Transportation area offers a variety of example applications and information on design resources that will help you create safety-critical designs with our functional safety ecosystem.

Touch Features

Touch Features

The Functional Safety Touch Library (Part Number: FuSaTL) speeds up your development of capacitive touch buttons for applications that target ISO 26262 certification, such as cruise control buttons on steering wheels or touch gear shifters. A flexible solution for creating high-performance safety touch projects, this library supports these features:

  • Self-sensing and mutual sensing
  • Water-tolerant touch with Driven Shield+
  • Low-power support
  • Boost mode for increased Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
  • Active noise countermeasures

All features are validated, and performance tested to pass 10V conducted immunity tests (level 3) according to IEC 6100-4-6.
