Bootloaders are used to upgrade firmware on a target device without using an external programmer or debugger. Commonly used with microcontrollers (MCUs), a bootloader contains code that loads and executes an application program. Bootloaders can also perform additional tasks such as validating the code integrity and authenticity.
These classes cover the fundamentals of functional safety and security, including terminology, standards, requirements and tools offered by Microchip.
The PIC32CK GC family, powered by a 120 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor, offers up to 2 MB Flash and 512 KB SRAM, with connectivity options such as Ethernet, USB and CAN FD. Enhanced by Arm TrustZone® technology, the security-focused PIC32CK SG versions integrate a Hardware Security Module (HSM) for cryptographic tasks, secure boot and updates. Analog support includes a peripheral touch controller with 32 channels and a 12-bit ADC with a 3 Msps sampling rate. Development is streamlined with MPLAB® Harmony and MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) and packages are available in 144-, 100-, and 64-lead TQFP.
