CoaXPress is an interface to connect Devices (typically cameras) to Hosts (typically frame grabbers), it consists of one master connection and optional extension connections, which together forms a link. In the CoaXPress v2.0 protocol, each connection supports up to 12.5 Gbps data rate. The link consists of a downconnection ( link direction from device to host) and upconnection (link direction from host to device). Within one connection pair, both the upconnection and downconnection are transmitted on the same coax cable.
