The MCP8063 is a highly integrated sinusoidal sensorless driver for brushless DC motors. It features 180° sinusoidal drive for high torque output and silent operation. It is intended to cover a wide range of motor characteristics, while requiring no external tuning from the user. Speed control can be achieved through either power supply or pulse-width-modulation (using the PWM digital input pin). The compact packaging and minimum bill-of-material (BOM), it is best suited for fan applications that require high efficiency and low acoustic noise. Frequency generator output is also included, enabling for precision speed control in closed-loop applications. The MCP8063 driver includes a lockup protection mode, which turns-off the output current when the motor is under lock condition, and an automatic recovery that enables the fan to run when the lock condition is removed. Automotive AEC-Q100 Qualified, PPAP Available Upon Request.
The MCP8063 12V 3-Phase BLDC Sensor-less Fan Controller Demonstration Board allows the control and monitoring of Microchip MCP8063 12V fan driver using PC software connected via USB. The software allows fan driver power supply control and monitoring, pulse-width modulation (PWM) control, and speed and current consumption monitoring.
Brushless 4 click is a 3 phase sensorless BLDC motor driver, which features a 180° sinusoidal drive, providing high efficiency and low acoustic noise. This type of drivers inherently provides higher torque in general, compared to classical 120° BLDC motor drivers. Brushless 4 click allows a wide voltage range to be used for the power supply: from 2V, up to 14V. The Click board™ features a standard set of protection features: overvoltage protection, overtemperature protection, overcurrent limiting, but also some more specific protection features, such as the rotor lock-up protection and automatic restart function.
