The MIC33M656 is a high-efficiency, low-voltage input, 6A
peak current synchronous step-down Power Module. The Constant-ON-Time (COT)
control architecture with HyperLight Load™ provides very high efficiency at
light loads, while still having ultra-fast transient response.
The I2C interface allows programming the output voltage
between 0.6V and 1.28V, with 5 mV resolution (-FAYMP) or between 0.6V and 3.84V, with 10
mV and 20 mV resolution (-SAYMP). Two different default voltage options (0.9V
and 1.0V) are provided so that the application can be started with a safe
voltage level and then moved to high performance modes under I2C
control.
An open-drain Power Good output facilitates output
voltage monitoring and sequencing. If set in shutdown (EN = GND), the MIC33M656 typically draws 1.5 µA, while the output is discharged through 10W pull-down (if the output
discharge feature is enabled).
The MIC33M656 pinout is compatible with the MIC33M650, so
that applications can be easily converted.
The 2.4V to 5.5V input voltage range, low shutdown and
quiescent currents make the MIC33M656 ideal for single-cell Li-Ion
battery-powered applications. The 100% duty cycle capability provides low
dropout operation, extending operating range in portable systems.
The MIC33M656 is available in a thermally efficient, 53-Lead 6 mm x 10 mm x 3 mm B1QFN package, with an operating
junction temperature range from -40°C to +125°C
DT100108 are intended to provide a platform allowing customers to easily evaluate the features of the new MIC33M656 6A Power Modules in a buck converter application with output voltage and other settings either set via an I2C serial bus via a GUI interface. These boards are ideal for powering core supply voltages and also high power single-cell Li-ion battery powered applications. The evaluation boards also provide a reference for proper choice and PCB layout of components that are critical to switching regulator implementations. DT100108 were developed to help engineers reduce product design cycle time and have an optimum platform to evaluate the performance of these devices. DT100108 boards provide an onboard micro-USB port and the MCP2221 USB/I2C bridge to interface with the I2CMonitor GUI to configure and monitor the device registers.
The MIC23656 Evaluation Board is developed to evaluate and demonstrate Microchip Technology’s MIC23656 product. The board features the MIC23656 in a typical Buck application supplied from an external source, between 2.4V – 5.5V. The onboard MCP2221 USB bridge and Micro-USB interface allows easy parameter configuration and monitoring directly from a PC. Test connectors allow probing, while the board can be loaded up to 6A.
