The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an exciting, international competition that pairs professionals with students to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The program is a life-changing, career-molding and fun experience for participants.
Over 120 colleges and universities, professional associations and corporations from the United States and Canada provide over 550 individual scholarship opportunities, valued at over $80.0 million, to FIRST high school students.
Get ready to dive deep into STEM and collaboration as we explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. This ocean-themed season challenges FIRST teams to think boldly and creatively, working together to develop innovative technologies and impactful solutions that support aquatic life and advance undersea exploration.
The 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition game, called REEFSCAPE presented by Haas, challenges teams to simulate the restoration of an ocean reef by harvesting algae, seeding coral, and returning them to their designated "reef" on a barge, essentially mimicking the process of strengthening a fragile underwater ecosystem. Teams earn points based on their ability to complete these tasks within a timed match, with additional rewards for alliance cooperation and meeting specific scoring thresholds. The alliance that earns the most points wins the match.
