This document describes the architecture and usage of the MESA API Sample Application code for 1G PHY. The Sample Application code for 10G PHY also exists for the MESA API but is not covered in this document. The Sample Application code can be downloaded from GitHub, compiled in a Linux environment as a stand-alone application and executed while connected to a PHY evaluation board. The Sample Application is compiled and linked with a version of the MESA API code that is used to configure the PHY hardware on the evaluation board to test PHY features and functionality. The Sample Application code covered in this document supports many of the VSC 1G PHYs, and this document describes the requirements needed for each evaluation board setup.
