Phase sequence detection, phase-loss detection and RMS voltage measurement are the fundamental functionalities of AC power supply applications. The implementation becomes easy and cost effective by using the on-chip ZCD peripheral. The usage of ZCD, ADC, Timer, VREF peripherals of microcontroller enable the phase sequence, phase-loss detections and RMS voltage measurement on AC supply faster and more precise. This application note describes the implementation of a phase sequence and phase loss detection system on emulated three-phase AC supply using AVR DA family microcontroller.
