Description
This application note highlights the design guidelines and different implementation methods to achieve better performance results while implementing wide-multipliers, 9-bit×9-bit multiplications, and extended addition with the IGLOO®2 field programmable gate array (FPGA) and SmartFusion®2 system-on-chip (SoC) FPGA mathblock (MACC). The 9-bit×9-bit multiplications, wide-multiplier, and extended addition are ideal for applications with high-performance and computationally intensive signal processing operations. Some of them are finite impulse response (FIR) filtering, fast fourier transforms (FFT), and
digital up or down conversion. These functions are widely used in video processing, 2D or 3D image processing, wireless, industrial applications, and other digital signal processing (DSP) applications.
