Microchip Technology Celebrates Milestone in Armenia

Local leaders and dignitaries join company executives in celebrating new office space and regional growth

YEREVAN, ARMENIA, March 6, 2025 — Recently, Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP) celebrated the move to its new office in Yerevan, Armenia with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by local government officials, industry leaders and company executives. Microchip’s presence in Armenia was established through the acquisition of Instigate Holding in 2023 and the local team officially moved into this dedicated office space in late 2024. Since the acquisition, Microchip has expanded its workforce by 43 percent, operating in four key locations across the country—Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Ijevan—with a focus on hardware and software development, application engineering and customer support under Microchip’s Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Business Unit.

"Microchip is honored to be a part of the significant growth taking place in Armenia's vibrant tech ecosystem," Shakeel Peera, vice president of marketing and strategy for Microchip’s FPGA business unit. "Our partnerships with local government, industry and educational leaders allow us to contribute to Armenia’s future as a hub for technological innovation.”

The event featured a reception with Armenia’s High-Tech Minister, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, and members of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) Board. Discussions centered on future collaboration and the continued growth of Armenia’s high-tech industry. The co-founders of Instigate, who played a pivotal role in building the team that led to Microchip’s acquisition, were also in attendance, highlighting the collaborative spirit that has driven the company’s success in the region.

To support the next generation of tech professionals, Microchip has been working closely with Real School in all four locations. A high school-level program that combines education and vocational training, Real School works to provide its graduates with the knowledge and technical skills to pursue positions in innovative, high-tech industries. This collaboration enables students as young as 16 to kickstart their careers in the IT sector through early internships, providing them with a direct path to employment at a globally recognized technology company.
