Microchip Technology Authorized as a CVE® Numbering Authority (CNA)
CHANDLER, Ariz., May 7, 2024 — Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has been authorized by the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE®) Program as a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA). CVE is an international effort that relies on approved CNA partners to help identify, define, catalog and publicly disclose cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities are published to the CVE list to enable program stakeholders to rapidly discover vulnerability information to help protect systems against attacks.
"In today's interconnected world, the integrity and security of electronic systems are essential. Consistent with Microchip's focus on cybersecurity, our collaboration with the CVE Numbering Authority enables us to respond to potential risks swiftly," said Nuri Dagdeviren, vice president of Microchip's security products business unit. "From secure boot to advanced cryptographic capabilities, security is built directly into our innovative solutions, and we are committed to preserving the trust and confidence customers have in Microchip’s secure embedded solutions.”
As a CNA, Microchip will engage in a cooperative effort to detect, monitor and counteract cybersecurity threats across its wide portfolio of products. Assigning CVE identifiers to vulnerabilities will enable faster and more efficient communication and resolution of security issues. Information technology and cybersecurity professionals use CVE records to ensure they are discussing the same issue, which works to streamline communication and prioritize efforts.
