The Adaptec product line was acquired by Microchip through a string of acquisitions. PMC-Sierra announced the acquisition of Adaptec, Inc. on May 10, 2010 and completed the acquisition on September 3, 2010. Microsemi completed the acquisition of PMC-Sierra on January 15, 2016 and Microchip completed the acquisition of Microsemi on May 30, 2018.
