Microchip Technology in the United Kingdom includes locations in Caldicot, Whiteley, Winnersh, and Ely.
Microchip Technology Caldicot is a leading provider of embedded control applications and semiconductors, having provided microelectronic services since 1983. We offer a wide selection of services covering the entire lifecycle of a microchip with teams working within design, development, assembly, test and sales. Caldicot products are used in the medical, communication, industrial, aerospace and defense industries. Located in the beautiful County of Monmouthshire, Caldicot is a 10-minute drive from the M4 and M48 and only a 40-minute drive from the two closest main city centres of Cardiff and Bristol, where major train stations are based. We are next to the English border over Severn Bridges (both of which are now toll free) across from Bristol, on the outskirts of Chepstow. We offer plenty of free parking on site. Microchip’s office is a 20-minute walk from the local train station.
Microchip Whiteley is located on the South Coast of the United Kingdom near Southampton and Portsmouth. The site primarily focuses on the Human Machine Interface (HMID) product line and our maXTouch® touchscreen controllers. The site primarily includes application, firmware development and R&D groups and there is also a small marketing and finance presence on site.
The Microchip Winnersh office is 25 miles west of London and near Reading with extensive network links across the whole country. The office supports the regional training center and customer lab, which hosts European seminars, workshops and training events. It also features a distribution warehouse that serves customers across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) territory and is home to U.K. sales, HR, finance and marketing communications support functions.
Microchip Ely is based in the historic city of Ely, 14 miles north of Cambridge. We are a 5-minute walk from the train station, where trains frequently travel to and from London and Cambridge. The area around Cambridge is widely known as a centre of technology and innovation in the UK and is often referred to as “Silicon Fen”. The site is part of Microchip’s Wireless Systems Group (WSG) and has a leading role in the development of technology for Microchip's range of Wi-Fi® SoCs and modules. Ely is primarily an engineering site with a focus on software development, systems engineering and functional, interoperability and standards testing.
