The MCP402xEV is a low cost evaluation board that quickly enables the user to exercise all of the features of the MCP402X Non-Volatile Digital Potentiometer. This kit includes 2 PCBs, one populated & one unpopulated. The populated PCB has an MCP4021-103E/SN digital pot configured as a “windowed” potentiometer using a 2.5kΩ pull-up and a 2.5kΩ pull-down resistor. The PCB supports the 8 pin SOIC, SOT-23-6 and SOT-23-5 MCP402X package variations. A 6 pin PIC10F206-I/OT with FLASH memory is utilized to generate all of the Low-Voltage (LV) and High-Voltage (HV) MCP402X serial commands when the 2 momentary switches are depressed in various sequences. This enables the user to Increment and Decrement the wiper, save the setting to EEPROM & exercise the WiperLocktm feature. The PCB also supports the standard ICSP programming header used by the Microchip BFMP low cost programming tool. The second PCB included in the kit is unpopulated to allow the user to build up the exact combination of components that their application would require.
The MCP4xxx Digital Potentiometer Daughter Board allows the system designer to quickly evaluate the operation of Microchip Technology’s MCP42XXX and MCP402X Digital Potentiometers. The MCP42XXX are dual Digital Potentiometer devices that have the same characteristics as their single Digital Potentiometer devices (MCP41XXX). The MCP402x devices are non-volatile devices that have similar characteristics as their volatile memory versions (MCP401X). The board supports two MCP42XXX devices to allow the Resistor Networks to be “stacked” and form a programmable windowed Digital Potentiometer and an MCP402X device, which can be replaced with an MCP401X device. The board has one MCP42010 device (10 kΩ), which can be the rheostats at the ends, and one MCP42010 device (10 kΩ) which is the potentiometer in the middle and a separate standalone potentiometer.
The board also has a voltage doubler device (TC1240A), which can be used to show the WiperLock Technology feature of the MCP4021.
The MCP4XXX Digital Potentiometer Daughter Board has been made configurable, via jumpers. This allows you to determine the configuration that you wish to have the four digital potentiometer of the MCP42XXX devices.
This Blank PCB allows the system designer to quickly evaluate the operation of Microchip Technology’s Voltage Supervisors and Voltage Detectors in the SOT-23-5 (5-pin) and SOT-23-6 (6-pin) packages. This PCB supports many Microchip device families, including the Nonvolitile Digital Potentiometer and PIC10F2xx devices.
