We designed our Zigbee microcontroller (MCU) products to support low-cost, low-power networks in a wide variety of wireless sensor network applications. You can find them in:
As a Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) member, Microchip is an industry leader of Zigbee solutions. Our software stack is industry proven and certified with the latest Zigbee specification.
Our product portfolio includes FCC-, IC- and RED-certified modules and reference designs which speed up development and ensure that the end product is fully interoperable and reliable.
Our Zigbee modules and SoCs feature a 64-MHz, Arm® Cortex®-based M4F core backed by our comprehensive development ecosystem. They support multiple wireless protocols including Zigbee 3.0 and are available in a selection of memory and packages. Click or tap on any colored box to see more information about that product or use the parametric table to browse all Zigbee MCUs.
Our PIC32CX-BZ and WBZ family is built to thrive in tough environments. These devices are temperature tolerant and provide stable RF performance regardless of the conditions.
With up to 29 GPIOs, it is easy to add features that set your application apart. This MCU family supports a rich set of peripherals including capacitive touch, ADC and DAC.
We keep your designs secure through multiple layers of protection inclduing secure boot, which prevents your device from being taken over by unauthorized software.
In addition to SoCs, we design and build our own RF-ready modules. If you want more customization, we provide chip-down reference design packages for building your own module.
Use drag-and-drop auto code generation, virtual sniffers and a large library of application examples to prototype your wireless application in seconds.
Our comprehensive selection of tools and accessible support makes Zigbee product development easy. Our resources include:
This project showcases the potential of smart environments. Follow this example to build an end-to-end solution including a Thread gateway that connects various IoT devices to the cloud.
Harness the power of AI and IoT for industrial environments. The demo collects data via a mesh-based sensor network while controlling a robot arm and reporting data to the cloud.
Explore our growing library of application examples, documentation and videos available through MPLAB® Discover.
Use this Windows®-based software to test your RF configuration during development, certification and production.
Our online design review is available at no charge to customers who have selected our wireless devices for their applications.
One of Zigbee’s biggest benefits is its mesh networking architecture. Mesh networking enables communication between hundreds of nodes without needing to be directly connected.
Its self-healing property enables robust routing among the connected nodes, allowing the network to span a very large area. The nodes can communicate with each other without being in direct wireless range.
In addition to mesh capabilities, Zigbee is known for its low power consumption, low cost and ease of use.
Because Zigbee devices are designed to use very low power, they are well suited for use in coin cell-powered devices and limited-power applications. Zigbee networks are easy to set up using a simple and straightforward command set. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity—Zigbee uses advanced encryption to ensure secure communication between devices.
These characteristics make Zigbee a great option for many types of applications including smart home systems, industrial automation systems and medical devices. Zigbee Green Power Devices offer further capabilities when used in energy harvesting solutions.
Zigbee’s low power consumption and mesh architecture make it a great option for industrial and consumer IoT applications.
